how I went from total clutterbug
to helping big-hearted people live with less

Welcome to Let That Shit Go! I’m so glad you’re here.😊

Sara Brigz teaches decluttering online to sentimental and big-hearted people.

Since you’ve stopped by, I have a hunch that you’ve got big goals for your home.

I’m also willing to bet that you’re super compassionate, you feel emotions deeply, and you crave a simpler space that lets you live with more fulfillment and fun.

But maybe you feel…

  • kind of overwhelmed & unsure where to start
  • nervous getting rid of things you might need one day
  • guilty parting with sentimental stuff, gifts, or waste
  • frustrated that every time you organize, the pesky clutter always comes back

Trust me my friend, I’ve totally been there.

Consider this your official permission slip to forget everything you think you know about decluttering your stuff. Because I have a secret for you:

IT'S NOT ABOUT THE STUFF.

*insert mind-blown gesture here*

When your space is cluttered, it’s almost always a sign that there’s clutter within. And in order to simplify effectively (with results that stick!), I believe you have to confront the root cause of the clutter – the emotions or thought patterns getting in your way. Basically, you’ve got to declutter from the inside out.

Scroll down to find out how I learned this the hard way…😬

Hey! I’m Sara Brigz  –

declutter coach, writer, and potty-mouthed optimist

(…who sometimes takes pics without brushing her hair first.  #SorryNotSorry)

In my little corner of the interwebs, I have a few core beliefs:

► I believe you already have the heart and strength you need to rewrite old cluttered mindsets and live a more purposeful life. All you need are the tools – and don’t worry, I gotchu there.😉

► I believe that decluttering and sustainability aren’t mutually exclusive. In fact, they can make an even better pair than Joey & Chandler (or, you know… your duo of choice). I’ll show you how to simplify in a responsible way.

► I truly believe you deserve to live in a happy space that makes you want to dance around and be your wackiest, wonderful-est, most authentic self. And I’m determined to help get you there.

► Okay, and if I’m being completely honest, I also believe that coffee should be called lifejuice and that it’s possible to care and swear at the same time – like when I tell you how fucking fantastic you are!😁

So how did this become my life?

Believe it or not, I used to be a major clutterbug. I’m talking “walk-in closet that I could barely walk into because it was so jam packed with clothes and shoes” kind of cluttered.

There were hundreds of books on the shelves. Piles of papers all around my room. Not to mention the endless little objects in every nook and cranny that reminded me of people or places or memories. (What can I say? I was a total sucker for sentimental stuff, and shit I “might need one day.”)

I’d lose stuff all the time and spend hours – okay, real talk, sometimes days😅 – looking for it. The thought of cleaning always stressed me out. But for some reason, I kept spending money on shit I didn’t need.

I reached my breaking point in 2015.

I had just packed up all my crap, moved it to a new city, and then unpacked it again (a process that took weeks). Knee-deep in a bout of depression and stressed AF from the move, I looked around at my new apartment and had a full-blown panic attack.

It was the first time I had ever considered that my emotional baggage might have been contributing to the absolute shit ton of literal baggage around me.

So I Googled countless blog posts about decluttering. I checked out armfuls of books from the library. But none of the resources I found seemed to understand me. They’d tell me how to organize my stuff, or tell me what to get rid of – but they didn’t help me grasp why I was so attached to it in the first place, or why decluttering seemed so much harder for me than it was for most people.

Maybe you can relate?🤷🏼

I needed to shake up my strategy.

Instead of trying to conform to decluttering methods that obviously weren’t designed for me, I shifted my focus inward. I spent months researching the psychology behind fear, attachment, and identity – and especially how each one related to my clutter.

Armed with a fresh understanding of my thoughts and feels, I developed a step-by-step system that helped me get rid of 75% of my stuff in a little over a year. How bananas is that?!🤯

That’s the system you’ll find here. I’ll show you how to:

► overcome the fear that makes it hard to part with stuff you “might use one day”

► shift your mindset around sentimental clutter and find more peace

► declutter in a responsible & sustainable way, and let go of the guilt💃💃

Let That Shit Go helps people change their mindset around decluttering.
